Clackit: From the Red Carpet to the Screen

Sharjah Media City (Shams) hosted a special event titled “Clackit” on Thursday evening, bringing together a distinguished group of directors, actors, screenwriters, producers, drama production companies, and cinema enthusiasts. Held under the theme “From the Red Carpet to the Platform,” the event highlighted Shams’ commitment to advancing the regional and local drama and content production industry.
The “Clackit” event served as a dynamic bridge between writers and producers, offering a platform for pitching and discussing projects, while opening real opportunities for production collaboration. The gathering showcased Shams’ dedication to connecting creative development with professional empowerment to ensure lasting impact in the sector.
H.E. Rashid Abdullah Al Obaid, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), said:“We emphasize the importance of linking creativity to real production opportunities. Shams Studios: Infrastructure for a New Production Era
The event opened with a presentation revealing details of the upcoming Shams Studios project, a major media and film production infrastructure initiative currently under development.
The project includes 5 advanced studios covering 10,200 square meters, equipped with state-of-the-art cinematic technology. The studios will offer a professional, fully controlled indoor production environment, reducing reliance on external locations and meeting growing demand for advanced production spaces in the UAE and the region.
A Dramatic Journey “From Script to Screen”
“Clackit” also featured a panel titled “From Script to Screen”, moderated by media presenter Ossama Alfa, featuring Emirati actor and producer Ahmed Al Jasmi, Emirati writer and producer Muna Al Zaabi, and producer Eyad Al Najjar.
The session focused on the importance of strong scripts, professional execution, and fostering pathways between young talent and production houses. Speakers discussed writing challenges in the digital era and the need to renew content to meet audience expectations.
Live Networking and Pitching Hub
An interactive open-pitching space allowed writers from the Hekaya program to present their projects to producers, investors, and decision-makers, creating a professional environment for collaboration, development, and funding opportunities.
Empowering Creative Talent and Enriching the Creative Ecosystem
Initiatives such as Hekaya and Idea Bank demonstrate Shams’ commitment to empowering local talent and building a sustainable drama production environment rooted in Sharjah’s vision and extending across the Arab region.
Participants praised Shams’ integrated model combining training, creative support, and professional networking, marking a new phase of distinguished media production in the region.
