Sharjah University and Sharjah Media City Forge Media and Innovation

Powerhouse Partnership

The University of Sharjah and Sharjah Media City (Shams) have inked a memorandum of understanding to boost their collaboration in media, communications, and public relations, nurturing Sharjah's creative ecosystem. This strategic pact, signed by H.E. Chancellor Prof. Esameldin Agamy for the University and Director-General Rashid Abdullah Al Obad for Shams, spotlights both sides' drive to equip national talent and unleash emerging creatives, cementing a longstanding bond while exchanging knowledge to elevate the UAE's media landscape, especially in Sharjah.

At the start of the signing ceremony, Prof. Agamy welcomed guests and attendees, expressing delight not just for the fresh tie-up but for crowning years of fruitful partnership. He praised Shams's backing for UoS programs, particularly in the College of Communication, by providing hands-on training opportunities and scholarships that polish young talents. He spotlighted Shams's pivotal support for the University's Master of Science in Media Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation, run with the University of Barcelona, calling it a standout model of knowledge leadership and global synergy that owes much to Shams's generosity.

For Prof. Agamy, media transcends academia; it is a force for influence, opinion-shaping, and awareness-building. Through this alliance, he said, UoS aims to propel students beyond learning toward real-world impact, producing media professionals who do not merely possess knowledge but craft tomorrow's narratives.

Al Obad echoed the enthusiasm, framing the MoU as a game-changing step toward linking academic institutions with media backers to forge an innovative, knowledge-driven media framework. Shams, he noted, remains steadfast in empowering Emirati experts, embracing young talents, and cultivating creativity, with the UoS partnership unlocking new horizons for media pros ready to navigate rapid industry shifts.

The agreement is expected to unlock fresh avenues, from joint educational and media programs to awareness campaigns and practical training attuned to a fast-evolving job market. Highlights of the agreement include talent-spotting events, collaborative applied research on UAE media realities, graduation project support, specialized workshops on AI, podcasting, and content
creation, plus shared conferences, exchanges, and potential media innovation labs or incubators to revolutionize teaching and spark sector-wide breakthroughs.
